| MLA Documentation and Works Cited :
01-28-2008
When you write a formal paper you need to cite your work. If you do not cite your information then people who read your paper will be oblivious to how you got all of this information.
Thats why it is important to learn how to use MLA Documentation. Some people just write the name of the book and the author, however that is not enough for most High School teachers.
Here is the link to the Purdue University website called The Owl. Here are examples of every kind of format for creating a works cited. Look at the bottom of the page to view works cited for books, periodicals, websites etc. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/09/
this site is also great for other kinds of information regarding writing in general. However it would take me a long time to explain them all.
Once you enter college and start writing things such as your senior thesis you MUST cite your work. If you don't you may as well not hand it in at all.
If it is not required at your school now you should at least look at it. Eventually you will need to use this stuff. MLA formatting may seem ridiculous when it comes to how specific things need to be. But it is the way it is, and it is the same everywhere. So don't question MLA, if you do it will come to your house and kill you.
