There's some classes that they are essential (Statistics) but some classes have class sets.. they're good though since you can put formulas (notes to look at during math tests) and helpful programs on them (if you know how/download them). I say its worth it since its a one time purchase of like $60-100 and then you'll probably need it a lot in college.
