were mine not detailed enough? what am i missing? just think.. a variable is an unknown number. so you solve the known numbers and that gives you the value of the variable. then to check it, you just substitute your answers for the variable.
Easy example:
3x + 5 = 10
3x = 10-5
3x = 5
3x/3 = 5/3
x = 5/3
Check.
3(5/3) + 5 = 10
5 + 5 = 10
10 = 10.
