Perfect squares are simply numbers that can have their square roots taken without any decimals after words. Some numbers that have perfect squares are 4, 9, 16, 25 and 36. With a number like 5, if it has its square root taken, it will have whats called an irrational number. The square root of 5 is about 2.36067...etc.
You can also think about it in terms of squared numbers. With the number 1, if it's squared, the result will be 1. If you have 2^2(^ means the first number to the power of the number after the "^") So, 2^2 = 4, which is a perfect square. 3^2 = 9; 4^2 = 16 and so on. Anyone else have anything to add? |
