It's been a little while since I've done stuff like this, so sorry if I'm not giving you the right answer, but I believe you can use the solutions you found to create the vector u=<-3, 1>
The vector would simply be the arctan(-1/3) = -.3217 or -18.43degrees
Sorry if that wasn't what you were looking for, but that's all I can really get out of your explanation.

In order to find the x and y values, you would need to be given a t value. Otherwise, there are no numerical answers that you can reach.
I'm sort of confused what you're asking because you being by asking the direction, and then ask how the x and y values are obtained. Does the question provide you with those values, or did you look up the answers somewhere?
