Ok so i suck at algebra. so i need help with a few problems.


y = -x + 4
-5x + 2y = -6


Solve each system using the substitution method.



You get it please post o yea and the answer should be in a point form.....like (1,2) like that. Thanks a lot

wow I just did the wrong thing. Hold on I think i know how to do this. edit in 5 minutes

damnit man, I get stuck after i get the y=mx+b.

I think I should take the slop and put it in the X and the Y intercept where the Y is, but that does not seem right. hmmm. Ill keep working on this, I really should not be this hard for me. I only did this last year.

cool I'm doing this too

so this is what u do for:


y = -x + 4
-5x + 2y = -6

first of all you replace the 2y with the (-x+4) and you and add the x's which would be -6x, then you subtract the -6 in the equation by the 4 and you should get -10 of course, so u devide the -10 by the -6x and u should get the value of x, and then u solve for y in the beginning now knowing what x is.

I don't know if i did this wrong, you should ask your teacher, but I'm doing pretty good in this so far but I fell like I missed something like dividing the numbers in the first equation by 2 for 2y in the second equation before adding them

Yea i have no idea i had to take a test over this stuff today and probably failed and i dont really kare because u hate math......my worst subject

a little late but here you go:

y = -x + 4
-5x + 2y = -6

Substitution method means what it says. They give you what y is (-x+4) so you just substitute it in the lower equation.
-5x + 2(-x+4) = -6
Distribute.
-5x -2x + 8 = -6
Solve for x.
-7x = -14
x = 2

So plug x=2 into the easier equation (either one works)
y = -(2) + 4
y = 2

Answer: (2,2)

Plug them in each equation to check.
