Well, If you want to write a good paper do not use Wikipedia. I will give you some stuff now to get an idea.
During the early stages of World War Two the United States was extremely reluctant to join in on the fight. Why should they, after all at the time the Atlantic ocean seemed like a barrier from Europe. America had an idea like.
"Its not our problem, let them sort it out, as long as we stay neutral and have the ocean separating us from the rest of the world, why rush to join in the bloody battle thousands of miles away that has no importance to us."
If you really think about it we had a good idea. Why send our men to fight in a war that would result in little gain for our own country. This is sort of similar to the way America handled the early part of World War Two also. Before the attack on Pearl Harbor, America had been sending boats, tanks, equipment etc. to the British who were being attacked by Germany.
In a way the start of World War One. was the Same as the Start of World War Two. (For America anyway) The only difference is that we started fighting in World War Two without an attack on the country itself.
Now to the reason why WE joined World War One. In 1915 the cruise liner Lusitania was attacked by German U-boats. The boat had 128 (or so) Americans on board. This, and some suspected German sabotage attempts on American factories, and increasing British pressure for American assistance, along with some other factors brought us into the actual fighting.
Please note, I left a lot of stuff out, and I sorta did what the last part of your paper should be focused on. The Isolation stuff can be found using google or sites like the history channel website.
Good luck
also I could be wrong a one or two things, better check with a more reliable source.
