| Experiments? :

Okay, I've been in school for about 2 and a half weeks now, which means 17 days of Chemistry. All we've done so far is do experiments, and when you do experiments you don't even think about what you're actually learning, you just do them because their fun/easy. We have a test coming up in a few days I have no idea wtf we have even learned.
I'm down for tons of experiments but come on, teach me something! Is that all you guys do in Chemistry too?

I'm doing an "experiment" for chemistry right now. I have to melt ice cubes...how exciting. |

Do you have to do lab reports? Answer questions about the lab?
Focus on those (specifically, the questions). Determine the expected outcome of a lab; it's usually what a teacher expects you to learn at the end of it.
Also, make sure you are more conscious when doing these labs. Obviously, your teacher expects you to take something away from them, so always be on the lookout.
If all of this fails, ask your teacher what exactly you are expected to know for the test. Use the text book you have. |

It depends on the level of Chemistry you are taking. I know in High School when I was taking AP Chem we were doing labs just about everyday.
The teacher expected us to understand how the lab worked by going home and studying for 2-4 hours a day.
I assume that is what your teacher may expect of you. You might just have to teach yourself Chemistry. |

If you go into an experiment not knowing how it works and what to do. Then how are you supposed to learn unless you count guess and check? |

All I know is that my teacher had such a terrible accent that I couldn't understand a word she said. So, I pretty much ended up learning straight from the text. |
