Well that's what I heard. | That's not true at all. It's about writing adequate lab reports, reactions, formulas, mole problems, etc. If a teacher makes students memorize the periodic table, it is ridiculous, because you should always have it as a reference, and there's absolutely no need to ever simply have it in your head. I can see why the teacher would have students memorize ions or molecular shapes, but other than that, it's mainly knowing how to conduct labs properly, and a ton of mathematical problems.

yeh if you have a solid math background chemistry won't be too terribly difficult. still a tough class but without math you're sunk pretty much. |

Well no, you don't have to be a genius at math.. if you were taking physics yes..
@Bacon memorization isn't as ridiculous as you say o.O the periodic table may always be there, but there are those pop quizzes, and sometimes the table that's handed to you isn't complete- so if you already know what exactly is on it then it could be useful.

Essentially, all you need to know, mathwise, for chemistry is how to read formulas and write them down on a sheet of paper. Much of the time, it's simple substitution of real values for variables, multiplying and dividing. It's quite simple once you start doing it. |

Chemistry blows. I never know what I'm doing.
I don't even know how to do the equations for gods sake.
Someone want to help me?! |
