I know this might be the wrong section. But I didn't know where else to put it.
So anyways, I'm taking English 101 now and have just taken my midterm exam which is a Reading comprehensive MCQ test.

So I receive my grades today, given the fact that I though I did practically well, I got below what I expected. I mean, I don't know if it's me or just the fact that Reading tests are wrong?

I mean, everyone has his opinion, right? I see the choices and go,"Okay, is this a trick question?". I seem to go, WAIT THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT. Some of the two choices were debatable. I mean, am I supposed to be understanding the same thing as the Questioneer is?

Let's take a look at this example:
Languages are drastically being lost every year round. Such as in Brazil where natives loose their languages from such things as deforestation.

In this sentence, what is the main idea:
A- Languages being lost at a worrying rate.
B- In Brazil natives loose language.
C-Deforestation causes loss of languages.
D- I love you guys. :/

Now, if you get choice like these, oh yeah and bare in mind that this is just a line in an essay. So, if the topic was talking about Language loss and it's importance. Than that is a no brainer, A would be my choice. I mean, since Brazil is an example, what makes Brazil so important than other countries than just being an example. Guess what? They say B is the answer.

Let's give another example:
There are currently five honey processing plants in Saudi Arabia. Two in Abha, one in Riyadh and Jeddah and one in Dammam. The total investment in them was 35 Million riyals.

What is the main idea in this paragraph:
A- There are not enough honey processing plants in Saudi Arabia.
B- There are enough honey processing plants in Saudi Arabia.
C- A lot of money was put into honey industry.
D- Need more honey?

Okay, so basically I chose C. I mean why else would he mention money involved into making it. He could've just mentioned the plants and locations and ended right there, or even added "We have enough of them"

Some of the last term tests taken where I study were even given bad remarks from some of our instructors. :/

Now some of the guys got full A+ on the test we took. But, I don't know if it is me or opinion based stuff? I mean, I think of stuff in a different way, look at them in a different way. Some just stare them straight with no right or left.

It's because all the answers are usually right, you just need to choose the answer that is the best. Unfortunately reading comprehension never goes away so get as much practice while you still can.

DAMMIT! Are you saying I have to deal with this for years to come?!?!?

How do I practice these tests? I need some links or something. D:<

The best thing to do is go get an SAT test and just keep taking the Reading Comprehension over and over. There are a couple of books that help you understand what to look for but only practice helps. Try warez or something.
