Do words like "simile, analogy, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and personification" ring a bell? These are called rhetoric devices that you use in writing to create emphasis, set a tone, or a play on words.
These will be very important in constructing a good paper, and will earn good points for using such advanced techniques.
Be careful not to overdo them. It's not necessary to have every sentence, or even every other sentence, possess rhetoric.
