Write a speech about anything you want that takes about 1 hr. Only need to write 1 speech a week.
Sometimes they will give us topics, sometimes they will let us talk freely, and sometimes they will let us debate.
Should I do it?

I thought you meant speech as in you can't talk correctly... :/
If you like writing speeches, then do it. I wouldn't take it myself, seems kind of boring 
I do like to debate, though.

I do like to debate, though. | Well the thing is, that you need to be able to write well developed speeches for the real world. You can also write speeches for persuasion on things like legalizing marijuana or prostitution. Its probably going to pwn but im still not sure. The people that I know are taking it dont like me very much.

We had a class like this. It was required and we had to write like 6 speeches. About me, Speech to Inform, Speech to Convince, Demonstration speech, Debate, Life changing experience speech. It was one semester long and it was kinda easy. I guess that isn't like your speech class. |

speech was required, along with spanish, but the speech teacher i had was really lazy. when we had vocab tests, everyone would finish and then we would grade our own papers and tell him what we made  needless to say nobody ever failed 
we had 4 qtrs in a semester and 4 minor speechs (all 3-7 min ) and 1 major (7-10 min ) the rest was SAT practice and vocabulary. it was the easiest class i've ever had

Speech is required for us. I took it last year and passed it with an A. I got a 98% on my final semester test speech. Don't take debate, a bunch of my friends said it sucks.
