Alright, I'm just a little confused on this. I am in Honors English 1 as a freshman and we are currently going over prepositional phrases.
This is our assignment that I need some help on.
"Identifying and Classifying Prepositional Phrases"
Directions: List all the prepositional phrases in each of the following sentences. Write adj. if the phrase is used as an adjective; write adv. if the phrase is used as an adverb. Be prepared to identify the word each phrase modifies.
Example: 1. Theories about the universe have changed over the years. 1. about the universe--adj.;over the years--adv. Here is one of the actual phrases.
1. In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered the existence of galaxies outside the Milky Way. |

Well, I believe that "In 1929", is a prepositional phrase, but I can not be sure about the other ones.
It has been too long since I have gone over those.
Sorry for the lack of assistance. |

Prepositions are usually pretty simple. But when they through in a normal preposition as an adverb you just have to be careful as to what you pick. |

Prep. Phrases are easy. If I had a refresher course on how to pick out if its an adv or adj I could help. We had to memorize all of the prep phrases back in 7th and 8th grade. |
