| Daily Physics Question :
02-05-2008
Everyday I will be adding a new Physics question. It will rate from 1-5, 5 being extremely difficult. I doubt many people will participate but I thought it would be kind of fun to do for those who are trying to learn and understand Physics. It'd be cool if there was some kind of reward for a correct answer but IDK.
Question 1:
If an object is at rest, what is the net force of the object? |

Wouldn't it be 0 N?
Because I thought that the formula for force was like F = M*A. A being acceleration. If an object is at rest, it has no acceleration.
I am probably wrong. Not in physics yet. Just covered force for a bit in 7th grade.

Wow. That was fast.
Answer 1: 0 Newtons. Although most people think the net force on the object is greater than zero because the force of the gravity pushing down on the block, their is also the force of the gournd pushing up on the object which zeroes out the forces. |

I want to take physics next year. It sounds fascinating.

Physics is an awesome class. You have to enjoy math somewhat though. Otherwise domination. |

J/k, but that's what I seriously thought it said at first.

Physics I is an easy A+ even in AP so take it. Physics II - depends on your teacher... (it hurts when some of my classmates know more than her about Physics lol...)
Not to steal your thread but (people's daily dose of physics is unfulfilled), what is the net force on an object moving with a constant velocity of 10 meters/second? |
