Another question, I have to prove the theorem, "If p is odd and q is odd, then p+q is even."
I know how to end the proof, but I don't know how to begin it. I think I need some more logical definition stuff before I state the following:
let p= 2k+1 b/c p is an odd number
also, let q= 2k+1 since it is odd as well.
2k+1 + 2k+1 = 4k+2
by definition, any even number is divisible by 2
and 4k+2/2= 2(2k+1) so 4k+2 is an even number
therefore, any two odd numbers added together makes an even number |
