| What Is The SAT Like? :
06-18-2007
For anyone who has taken it before, im just wondering how difficult it is or if it is just the pressure of it that makes it hard. Ill probably be doing some SAT prep classes that add points to it, but im just wondering how much of a load it is.

The math part is not too hard, they only go up to Geometry and a bit of trig and Algebra II.
English, not my strong point, the judge your writing on what words you select and if you use them correctly. they also have reading comprehension
No science
I forget about experimental.
Not overall a hard ass test, but it's good that you joined a prep class, I'm thinking about it too.

And are you posting these things off of a practice SAT or an actual one that counts?

The SAT is a gigantic ass 4 hour test that just really informs the world how good you are at taking the SAT. That's the short story.
The long one is that the math is pretty easy if you've taken anything past geometry since that's all they test on. Every once in a while I had a picture math problem that stumped me. Don't spend more than a minute on a problem if you're not making any progress. Come back to it, there are a zillion questions and one isn't going to hurt you.
English is the one that's a bitch with all of the reading and retarded similes. I wouldn't advise taking any prep classes unless you're having alot of difficulty in this area.
The writing is well, new to me. I did kind of poorly on it and luckily my college didn't look at that section. My SAT R+M score was 1390 both times I took it which isn't bad but I would've liked it to be a bit higher. My writing was like 310 or something atrocious like that.
The SAT is supposed to "test your abilities." However, I (and the people who created the ACT) don't belive such a thing is possible on a standardized test. The ACT is a much much better test, layout-wise and content-wise. |

The SAT is extremely boring. Personally, I finished each section about 20-25 minutes ahead of time and had to sit there doing nothing for the rest of that section.
I also thought it was extremely easy. I didn't go to any prep classes and I did fine. (2110 overall)
The math is almost TOO easy.
The essay is gay.
The writing is not my favorite, plus most colleges dont even look at it anway.
The critical reading is decently easy, I only got a 680 on that section.
