Default DVC 100 Dazzle DVD Recorder Capture Card

I have this capture card, it worked great and all was fine and dandy. Or at least while I was on a Windows XP computer with the good old Movie Maker. But now in Windows 7 (and Vista computers) the software goes to shit and doesn't want to work nice as in Movie Maker dropped its video capturing capabilities. So does anyone know a preferably free video capturing program that will work on Windows 7. If anyone could help me out that'd be awesome because I'd rather record stuff on my laptop instead of my piece of junk computer in the basement.

I'd ask on halo3forum if I were you since, no doubt, others have the same problem. My little brother has one, but no one tried to use it yet on Vista/Windows 7 since his laptop has XP. I've been too lazy to ever use it.

I'm too lazy to look into it, I figured I'd find a program eventually. I just thought someone on here would know about it.

Ok I've decided on using the old Movie Maker from Xp, but it is only recording like the first frame and then it stops. It will say it is recording like a ten minute game but it is really only 268kb and two seconds long. I don't know how to fix this problem either. All I did was copy the entire program from desktop with XP and brought it to my laptop with 7.

yeah I'm sort of in the same boat as my little brother sold his xbox 360 for money for a new laptop so he has no use for his capture card... but my computer is Vista and he lost the installation disc for the capture card. I still need to figure out how to connect the cables too.

I have found some pretty good articles on it now but I have no clue on registering a DLL file. Because when I copied MM 2.1 to the laptop it came with three DLL's but I but it in the system 32 folder thinking that would solve it but it didn't and I don't know where to go from here. http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/...les/25282.aspx is where I have been getting my instructions.

As far as the cables and the software; the software you can get from the manufactures website or once you plug it in the drivers for the card itself should install. The cables are normally the audio for composite and either a composite or s-video for video. I use an s-video and then the composite for audio. I have splitters for the audio cables and then the s-video cord for the xbox. Which I will include pictures of once I get the pictures from my email...

I think I may have found my problem, I have been trying to use Movie Maker 1 because I never updated my computer's software after I reformatted it so I am going to try to use 2.1 which is what I thought I was using because I am much more familiar with it.

I have a Dazzle 90 which works great, it just doesn't have any sound. Windows 7 fails!

I'm sorry, I haven't updated this post, I did an easy search on Halo 3 forum and they had all I needed. I'm not a big fan of it over there sorry Z, but here is the link there are a couple of good threads there but this is the main one that I used.

As far as Windows 7 goes, yeah I don't know what the deal with it and killing audio is. I had to take the audio and plug it into my laptops microphone port instead of just using the plugs from the DVC 100. I'll probably post pictures on the setup and I use Visual Dub because it is free and it seems to be the program of choice over there.

Sounds like you got the problem fixed? If not, I can always convert your clips for you in the mean time. Remember, you helped me set mine up a year back.
